Assignment for July 7, 2009: Reflection of the cooperation project

1. What did I find out during the cooperation project? What did I find most interesting, strange, funny, akward?

  • I learned a lot about the country and cultre of Cambodia when doing the research. Also I learned a few things about the lifestyle of Cambodian students in my e-mail conversation (e.g. what transportation they use to go to university, where they live and how they finance their studies, family life,…..).
  • I really liked all the videos because they gave me a viual impression about the country. I found out that it is common to eat insects. The video about the insect snack was very interesting but also a bit disgusting ;-) . It was great to learn that there are elephants and monkeys in Cambodia and the place shown in one of the videos looked alomost like jungle.
  • All in all I found out that Cambodian students aren’t that different from German students. Of course there a a few cultural differences but we share the same interests and as university students have a lot in common.

2. What was easy, what was difficult in the communication process?

  • Working with moodle was quite easy for me although some of the Cambodian students seemed to have trouble accessing it.
  • The e-mail communication between me and my Cambodian partners worked well, but it wasn’t possible to have a messanger or skype conversation because of the time difference.
  • The communication via commentary function on the blogs wasn’t very successful. I commented some blogs but not many cloggers responded , so I stopped to post commentaries.

3. What would I still like to find out from the other students?

  • Where do Cambodians typically go on their vactions?
  • If the Cambodian students could choose any place in the world to travel to where would they go?
  •  Is being a teacher a job of high or low prestige in Cambodia?
  • How does the daily life / a typical day of Cambodian students look like?
  • What is the legal age for drinking alcohol in Cambodia?
  • How old do you have to be to get a drivers license in Cambodia?

Hello everyone!

Welcome to my  blog.  As you can see I don’t have many entries yet, but hopefully that is going change soon.  In the “about”-section you can find  some information about me. If you want to be a little creative you can leave me a drawing in my graphic guestbook ( -> see blogroll). This is the second time I am maintaining a blog. My first blog is part of  a website I created for my au pair year in the USA. If  you want to check it out you can find the link in my blogroll (most of it is written in german). This is such a fun project! I am very excited and  can’t wait to look at your blogs and learn more about you, your culture and country.

I’ll keep you posted,

Christin
